Annual Events

Spouses’ Night

Over the years, the Club has held special events for members’ spouses such as a cruise and dinner on the Spirit of Washington, a fashion show, a presentation on drug detection dogs, numerous dinners at playhouses such as the Hayloft Dinner Theatre, Goose Creek Dinner Theater, and Shenandoah University.  The group has also toured the control tower at Dulles Airport, the Leesburg Control Center, Xerox Training facility and the Loudoun Hospital Center.

December Special Dinner and Presentation

Since 2000, the Club has a special meal and presentation in place of its Club dinner and meeting.  Members bring their spouses and other guests to enjoy the evening.  There is a small fee for dinner guests.

Club Picnic

In place of the July Club dinner and business meeting, members gather at Hamilton Community Park at 7pm for a picnic.  Members are asked to bring a covered dish, salad, or dessert.  The Club supplies the fried chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks.  Spouses, children, and others guests are also invited.

The
Hamilton
Ruritans

The Hamilton Ruritans are 55 members strong and growing.  The Club has seen many changes in its membership demographics through the years.  Since the Club began in 1957, women are now members of the Club, along with couples joining together.  This year, the Club has its first female president.

Ruritan’s main purpose is service to the community – the center of American life.  From the community come our ideas, our integrity, our moral strength, and our leadership.  Ruritan is about building a better America by helping to build better communities.

Objectives

One of the objectives of the Ruritans that is set forth in Article II of the local Club constitution is:  “To promote fellowship and goodwill among its members and the citizens in the community, and inspire each other to higher efforts.”  Our Club does this by getting together at monthly meetings for dinner and a program and by working together on community service committees and various activities..
