Club Officers Responsibilities

President

The President is the key person in the Club and the coordinator of all activities.  This person is the most important link between the Club membership and the Zone, District, and National Offices and sees that the Club has representatives at all appropriate meetings called by the District or Zone Governors.

Vice-President

The Vice-President serves as the Chairman of the Objectives Committee which is made up of the Chairman of each of the Community Service Committees, and serves as a presiding officer in the absence of the President, serves as a member of the Board of Directors, and assists the President in attaining goals set for the year.

Secretary

The Secretary should notify each member of the time, place, and date of all meetings; send personal invitations to approved prospective members; keep an accurate record of membership and attendance; report the number on roll and the number present at each meeting; and submit all membership changes to Ruritan National.

Treasurer

The Treasurer serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Finance Committees.  This member serves as a custodian of all funds, bonds, and any other assets owned by the Club.  The Treasurer should keep detailed, accurate and permanent records.

Directors

The Directors should attend all meetings of the Board of Directors.  They are to help formulate policies of the Club and see that they do not conflict with the Club Officers Handbook or Club Constitution and By-laws.  A Director is elected for a three-year term.  The Board of Directors is composed of the president, immediate past-president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and three elected directors.

Chaplain

The Chaplain has the responsibility of maintaining a spirit of religious fellowship in the Club at all times.

Song Leader

The Song Leader should encourage Club participation in group singing and lead the Club in singing “America” at the beginning of each regular meeting.

Sergeant-at-Arms

The Sergeant-at-Arms should help maintain order at the meeting, collect such fines as may be imposed by the Club, assist the Public Relations Committee, act as teller whenever a vote is taken, and carry out other duties as requested by the President.

Reporter

The Reporter has the duty to maintain adequate exposure for the Club.
