Membership
Requirements
Attendance
Members are expected to attend Club meetings. The
Club by-laws provide for the dismissal of any member
that fails to attend four consecutive meetings. Members
missing a meeting may make up the meeting by attending
the Club Board of Directors Meeting during that same
month. The Board of Directors meets at 7:30 pm
at the Harmony United Methodist Church preceding Monday
preceding the regular Thursday meeting. The missed
meeting may also be made up by performing four hours
of community service or by attending a regular meeting
of another Ruritan Club. In Loudoun County, there
are Clubs at: Aldie, Sterling, Lucketts, Hillsboro,
Lovettsville, and Ashburn. In the Hamilton Club,
Curtis Laycock has attended, or made up every Club meeting
since the Club was chartered in 1957. Sam Welsh
has attended, or made up every meeting since 1966.
At each of the Club dinners, members must wear their
Ruritan pin. If a member does not wear his or
her pin, the Sergeant-at-Arms will fine the member ten
cents. It is highly encouraged that members also wear
their nametags to meetings and events.
